Newlyweds: Lee Ann + Herlin

I had a fantastic time this past weekend second shooting a wedding for my dear friend Suzie Seagraves, who specializes in children and family portraits.

The twilight, candlelit ceremony took place at the Maitland Art Center and was followed by a gorgeous reception at the Winter Park Farmers Market.

And the winner is...

(yeah, yeah, so I'm a little late announcing it - sorry about that!)

Alison & Ross!

There were so many great stories, but how could I not be swayed by this:

"Why do I think I should win? Come on...I took him to a strip club. What good Catholic girl does that?"

Good Catholic girl, indeed! Maybe we'll shoot their e-session at a strip club ;)

Me day

Nothing like a "me" day to do a girl some good. November and December were nuts. Portraits, reprints, weddings. Oh yeah, and those holiday thingies. Shopping, cooking, all that good stuff. The early part of January has been spent on back end business stuff (those things that ya'll don't see and I won't bore you with). Today, I finally had a "me" day. Got a haircut, bought some shoes, ate some junk-a-licious food. Good for the soul, ya know?

Email is back online & Friday Faves: Movies

Thanks for your patience while my tech crew got it sorted out!

Apologies for the blog silence - I'm laying low, trying to fight off a cold (hey, it got down to like 25 degrees here in Florida, it's no wonder people are getting sick left and right!

On to my Friday faves - movies!

I'm one of those kind of people who has a new favorite movie (song, food) every other week or so, so if you ask me my all time favorite movie ever, you'd get a different response if you ask me again later. But in the spirit of faves, I give you my two favorite Vegas movies ever:

Leaving Las Vegas
Oh I know, it's depressing as heck, but it's a powerful story and it's beautifully filmed. Plus, for some bizarre reason, I've always found Nic Cage kinda hot (I know, ew).

Casino
Gruesome? Well, yeah. Talented cast? Heck yeah! And again, amazing cinematography and really strong story. Plus, I have a slight obsession with all things old-school Vegas.

So there ya have it! Happy weekend ya'll!

Email is down - sort of!

I'm receiving incoming emails, but it appears that my outgoing mail hasn't been working properly on and off for the past few days. Please use lbarbely@gmail.com until further notice while I deal with my web host and try and get this resolved. And if you've tried to email me in the past few days, please try again at that address! I apologize for any inconvenience!

Free engagement session contest!

Happy 2008! Sheesh, wasn't it just 1999/2000 and everyone was freaked about the whole millennium crisis? Time flies! Hope you all had a fantastic New Year's Eve and are as excited as I am about 2008!

To celebrate the new year and the host of engagements that tend to happen over the Christmas holidays, I'm giving away a free engagement session! The prize is a 1 hour session on location in the Orlando area and includes 1 8x10 print. To enter, send an email telling how you and your fiance met and why you think you should win. It's that easy! The deadline to enter is January 15, 2008 and the winner will be announced here by January 20, 2008.

What are you waiting for? Tell Lori your story now.
