One of the bonuses to living in Orlando is that everyone comes to visit. My good friend and her family are in town for a few days and we spent the afternoon at Epcot's Food & Wine Festival with them.

Later that night, we dropped this little guy off with his grandparents and headed off to Pleasure Island for a few. Here's the before and after shots (taken by my fantastic husband who stayed sober and put up with us three crazies!)

Photo flashback: 1 year ago today

Lori Barbely travel photography Belize sunset

It's hard to believe that I was enjoying this incredible Belize sunset just a year ago. So much has happened in that short time and looking back at the image reminds me just how much I have to be thankful for.

Limited availability for the rest of the year!

The year is almost gone and my calendar is almost full. I was looking at dates to schedule a session for a client today and I've only got two one session left in October; two sessions left in November (one of which is for the St. Augustine/Jacksonville area); and five sessions left in December.

And don't forget that the last day to order holiday cards is November 24, 2007 and the last day to order regular prints in time for the holidays is December 1, 2007. Any 2007 gallery can be reposted for one week for free to enable you to order holiday cards and prints. Email me if you want a gallery reposted.

Also worth noting is that as of January 1, 2008, the price for portrait sessions will be increasing to $250 which include a $50 print credit.

So if you're looking to book a portrait session, now is the time to do it!

Breathe out through your feet...

Back from low country, Hampton Island, Georgia, and getting back into the swing of things. We had a fabulous weekend both working and playing. The playing part involved a low country shrimp boil, s'mores around the campfire, and a lovely couples massage at the Island's Farm House Spa in which my therapist told me to "breathe out through my feet". If anyone can tell me what the heck that means, I'd appreciate it :)

Saturday morning had us up and about at 6am to catch the sunrise. My poor husband practically dragged me out of bed (perhaps I had a tiny bit too much wine the night before) but I'm so glad he did because I captured this fantastic sunrise! The first shot is pre-dawn with all the gorgeous blues and silvers in the sky. The second images is the sun slowly climbing its way into the sky. Well worth a few early morning mosquito bites.

That's the thing about me and low country. Apparently the mosquitoes think I'm rather sweet and tasty. And I'm allergic too, which leaves me with welts the size of half dollars. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some scratching to do.

On the road

At the crack of dawn tomorrow morning (and I do mean that literally) we're off to Georgia for the weekend. We're going to be staying at the gorgeous Hampton Island for a bit of work and a bit of R&R.

I won't have internet access, so that means no email until Monday morning. How ever will I cope? :) I will have my phone though, but I'm going to try not to answer it, unless it's an emergency! Stay tuned to see how I fare being unplugged from the world for < sarcasm> 4 whole days < /sarcasm>.

Savannah and Kyle said I do!

I had a blast shooting Savannah & Kyle's wedding yesterday. It was a perfect Florida Autumn day and the weather couldn't have been nicer!

After the ceremony, and a little fun with the portraits, the party moved inside.

These guys were jumping for joy when portraits were over and it was time to get to the party!

Savannah and her mom, Gigi, shared an emotional dance in honor of Savannah's father.

The devil was in the details! The teal and chocolate brown theme were carried though out the cake and the candy bar (Yum!)

Carolyn & Scott got married!

A little rain threatened to spoil the fun (hey, it is Central Florida after all) but Mother Nature was kind and held off until Carolyn, Scott, and all their guests were safely tucked inside the reception at the Sheraton Hotel Orlando North last night.

The ceremony was held at the gorgeous St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs.

Thanks you two for letting me share in your beautiful day!

Did somebody order office supplies?

Meet my new office manager. The cat's out of the bag (or the box, so to speak) and now you all know who really runs things here at Lori Barbely Photography. Now if only I could get him to do my bookkeeping...

In Print: MSNBC

I still get a thrill out of seeing my work published in different places. Even though this isn't technically in print, web publishing is just as cool. This is the web version of the ISLANDS Magazine Cruising story where I recently had some work published.
